Our Philosophy
We pride ourselves in being a personalised centre that provides high quality care and education. We value early childhood education as the foundation for lifelong learning and strive to provide holistic support in a warm, inviting and stimulating environment.
We believe that each child is a unique individual and should be viewed, respected, and treated as such. Developing trusting, nurturing and reciprocal relationships provide children with a secure sense of wellbeing which is central to belonging, being and becoming. As early childhood professionals, we advocate the highest expectations for every child. We communicate a belief to all children that they can succeed. As children develop a sense of agency, they realise that they have the ability to make their own decisions and to control their own lives. Our highly skilled and qualified educators value the importance of maintaining an optimum level of care and education for all children. We believe that early learning is about building children’s identity as a learner. We therefore aspire to design an inclusive environment that promotes competence, independence and learning through play and hands on experiences. Naturally, children are curious and fascinated by the world around them. Our role is to support them in developing the skills to think critically and ask meaningful questions helping them become active and engaged learners. Children are active participants in their own learning and thrive in environments that are suited to their interests and developmental stages which is why we view the environment as the third teacher. We endeavor to create a layout of the environment that promotes relationships, communication, collaboration, and exploration through play. Materials are thoughtfully added to the environment to promote creativity, thinking, questioning and problem-solving skills. Active listening is the key to all effective communication. It is about being in the moment, being responsive and wholeheartedly paying attention. Educators use this skill set to foster relationships and gain a deeper understanding of children’s interests, needs and abilities before planning for future learning. We emphasise the importance of sensory play and music as it ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. Environmental stimuli and experiences guide children’s cognitive development and influence how children learn about their world. Whilst music helps the body and the mind work together, and dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. Parents, families and caregivers are respected as the child’s first and most important teachers. Respectful partnerships with families are paramount to providing a high-quality service. Families are expected to play a positive role in their child’s learning and are encouraged to be actively involved in supporting and working together with the educators in developing the early learning program. We appreciate and respect individual family beliefs, customs, and cultures and believe it is the uniqueness of each of these which makes us special. We endeavour to gain knowledge and understanding of different cultural practices and create an environment that promotes cultural diversity. We aim to teach children appreciation and respect for the diversity of cultures, races and ethnicities that surround them. We believe that… Every child is an individual and has the potential to succeed Learning should be hands-on, engaging and creative The centre should be warm, inviting and a stimulating environment Educators must be adaptable and constantly evaluating their teaching practices and seeking to improve their methods Educators are only part of a team. They work with students, parents, colleagues, administrators and community members.
